Testimonials from Club Members & Friends
"I have been a member of Kowloon-Singapore Toastmasters Club for several years. I
have learnt to overcome the fear of public speaking. I am no longer so fearful speaking in front of an
audience. Kowloon-Singapore Toastmasters Club is one of the friendliest clubs in Singapore. The members are very
helpful!"
- Yetti Chiu Immediate Past Club President
"As a non-native speaker of English, I felt right at home, when I practised my speaking skills at the Club. The members are
helpful and supportive. When I made mistakes, no one laughed! Instead, they encouraged me, they guided me,
they accepted me. I've become a more confident speaker!"

"Toastmasters has given me the confidence to overcome my fear of public speaking, by offering
me a platform to speak in a non-stressful environment."

"I was invited by a friend of mine to a demo meeting way back in 2000. I joined Toastmasters from then on and it changed my life
forever!
I used to be an introvert who was shy to express myself, fearing of being laughed at if I said something wrong. I preferred to
hide myself behind the crowd so that I looked like other ordinary people. Toastmasters has taught me to be not only a more effective
communicator, but also a better leader. Through all the years, I have learned a lot about the communication techniques and leadership
skills. I have become more confident in my dealings with my bosses, my subordinates, and my peers in my work. I have enhanced my work
efficiency due to better time management and priority of work. I have improved my relations with my family members. I have broadened my
social circle and enriched my life. Looking back, I really want to thank my friend who introduced me to Toastmasters.
My only regret now is that I have not joined Toastmasters earlier!"

Division U Governor for the term 2005-2006
"I was introduced to Kowloon Singapore Toastmasters Club by a friend in year 2000. Being a Toastmaster is a life-changing experience; it not
only broadens your opportunities but gives purpose to your life.
The Kowloon Club was first formed for people from Hong Kong working in Singapore to help to improve their English communication skills.
Today, the Club has grown far and beyond. It has drawn many Singaporeans from all walks of life, like me, with a thirst to improve our public
speaking skills. I bear testimony to how the club transformed shy introverts to become confident communicators.
The knowledge and skills that I acquired through the Toastmasters club, gave me the courage and confidence to take part in contests, build my
confidence at work and boosted my morale at home. I am truly amazed at this transformation. I have always been tongue tied and had a phobia going
on stage. Being a Toastmaster, I got over this phobia in a matter of months.
Over the years, I have learnt not only to be an effective communicator and leader, but also had the opportunities to meet fellow Toastmasters,
with a big heart and selfless dedication to mould others to be confident Toastmasters. My sincere gratitude goes to these Mentors.
Deep down in everyone lies a talent which can only be discovered when we stretch out into the dark. I encourage everyone to discover their
passion and live their destiny by joining the Toastmasters Club."

"I got to know Kowloon Singapore Toastmasters Club through the monthly newsletter of Kowloon Club. I attended my first chapter meeting and
paid $10 (now free of charge). I was so impressed that I joined the club immediately. Since then I never looked back.
As an immigrant from Hongkong I am handicapped in spoken English. In Hongkong English is taught using Cantonese as the medium of instruction
and we can hardly have the chance to speak English. Our Toastmasters club is the best place to improve our English language. Furthermore we are
trained to be competent communicator and groomed to be leaders.
The atmosphere of the meetings is always warm and joyous with lots of laughter. The participants are serious in upgrading their speaking and
leadership skills. We all work hard to improve ourselves together. Some of our members including myself could hardly talk when we joined the
club. We had no confidence in speaking English especially on stage. All of us can talk fluently now even on stage.
I have been in the Exco-committee of our Club serving as Treasurer, Auditor, Vice President Education and President. It is really a good
training ground for leaders.
In spite of my age (73 years), my other hobbies, my family obligations and social commitments, I always find time to attend our chapter
meetings."
